Brian Marshall
Program Leader
Chronic Conditions program

Brian is a Project Officer for the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction. His project entails investigating Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) workers’ wellbeing, stress, burnout and retention. This national project will be undertaken over the next two years, and will ascertain ‘front-line’ Indigenous AOD work factors that impede satisfaction in the workforce, as well as continuance in this profession. The project will encapsulate data from rural/remote and urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous health services that deal directly with assisting Indigenous peoples with AOD symptoms to improve workload issues and retention.

This project was designed to analyse and critique the primary health care centres in the Southern Adelaide metropolitan region to enable them to become more effective centres for Indigenous peoples to access. Brian holds a Bachelor of Archaeology (Honours) from Flinders University., Prior to entering the AOD field, he was and is currently undertaking a postgraduate degree within the School of Australian Studies on 'Male Koori rResistance and empowerment whilst institutionalised'.
