November 2003 funding round update |
Current Commissioning Round Update |
In December 2003, a media release announced the funding of 7 projects by the CRCAH following the November funding round. We are pleased to announce that the Board has allocated extra funds for a further two projects which were identified by the Research Development Group in their assessment processes. For a final list of projects approved in this funding round, |
In March, the CRCAH called for expressions of interest in the partner proposed funding stream and in the following three priority funding areas: Primary Health Care, Systems and Services; Aboriginal Health Workforce; and Infectious Diseases: Scabies/GAS. In May, a total of 31 expressions of interest were assessed by Research Assessment Panels and the Research Development Group and 13 of the proponents have been invited to develop full proposals. The Board is expected to consider recommendations from the RDG on these proposals in November. |
Social Determinants Workshop |
|
| In January/February the CRCAH called for expressions of interest in scoping papers on social determinants. Ten papers were submitted for presentation at a Social Determinants workshop in Adelaide on 5-6 July 2004. The papers presented a thought-provoking range of perspectives on how the CRCAH might further develop its research agenda around social determinants. A further update on the workshop will be available on the CRCAH website soon. |

Revised Statement of Project Responsibilities form |
In-kind proposals approved |
| A revised Statement of Project Responsibilities form has been in use since late May 2004. This form is structured into two parts. Part A provides space for proponents to fill in proposal details and Part B outlines the contractual responsibilities of both the Project Leader and CRCAH CEO. This form must be signed for all CRCAH projects. For more information and relevant documents, go to the new Project Applications page on the CRCAH website. | The CRCAH's first formal Call for In-Kind Proposals has produced 16 in-kind submissions, that have now been endorsed as CRCAH projects. Proposals were received from seven Core Partners and include 5 in-kind courses. Most of the in-kind projects involve researchers working together with community and government organisations, with a strong focus on achieving direct outcomes from the research. |

Traineeships and Cadetships |
Education and Training Webpage |
We are still negotiating with core partners regarding CRCAH funding trainees and cadets for 2004. These positions might be included in project proposals or identified by managers or requested by individuals. If you are interested in getting more details, contact Lorna Murakami-Gold, Education & Training Coordinator.

The Education & Training staff are restructuring their webpage and would appreciate any comments about making the site more appealing and easier to navigate. This will include profiling our scholarship students and their projects on the website to assist with networking and linking in with other CRCAH activities. Suggestions or feedback can be emailed to either Sarah Walton, CRCAH Webmaster or Lorna Murakami-Gold, ED&T Coordinator. |
