Kerry Arabena is a descendant of the Meriam people in the Torres
Strait. In her professional career, she has been an executive
director of health services and political agencies, including the
most remote-area Aboriginal Medical Service in Australia. She has
also been a representative on a range of local, state and national
councils and committees. She is currently a Research Fellow in
Health at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Studies and with the CRC for Aboriginal Health. She
enrolled in a PhD at the Australian National University in March
2006.
