John Liddle

Primary Health Care, Health Systems and Workforce program
John has had extensive experience in the Primary Health Care system and care
provision to Aboriginal people. He has worked in a range of roles
in Aboriginal primary health care since 1974.
John was the Director of
the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and oversaw the
development of many of Congress’s substantive programs,
including the clinical services, towncamp health programs,
outstation outreach, the Alukura (Women’s Health &
Birthing Centre), Child Care Centre the construction of purpose
built PHC facility, and the Social & Emotional Wellbeing
Program.
He was involved in
establishing a people’s health program that addressed health
service needs in remote communities west of Alice Springs (Papunya
and Kintore), South of Alice Springs (Pipalatyjara and later
Nganampa) and North East of Alice Springs (Urapuntja Health
Service), and in health service planning with Anmatjere communities
in the Ti Tree region in 1998. John was also involved in
establishing the Central Australian Remote Health Training Unit
(CARHTU), which is now the Central Australian Remote Health
Development Service (CARHDS), and has been involved in Indigenous
affairs at a National level.
John is currently
working at Congress as the Male Health Branch Manager.
