Fran Baum is Head of Department and Professor of Public Health at
Flinders University, Foundation Director of the South Australian
Community Health Research Unit, the regional representative for the
People’s Health Movement in Australia and the Pacific, and a
member of its Global Steering Committee and a commissioner for the
World Health Organization Commission on the Social Determinants of
Health. She is also a past national president of the Public Health
Association of Australia. Professor Baum is one of
Australia’s leading researchers on the social and economic
determinants of health. She is the lead investigator on the
Australian Health Inequities program funded by the Australian
National Health and Medical Research Council.
