Cyril has extensive working experience in Aboriginal
issues (urban and remote) with both state and Commonwealth
governments, including disseminating and delivering programs to
remote communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
For the past 20-plus years, Cyril has assisted local incorporated
community groups and Community Government Councils in gaining
capital and recurrent funding to create childcare centres and
mobile playgroups, as well as residential aged care programs
(nursing homes, meals on wheels and respite services). Cyril has
also managed two censuses throughout the Katherine and Top End
region. Cyril’s knowledge of remote areas in the Katherine
and Top End regions has also been utilised by the Australian
Electoral Commission to promote and deliver information on 'How to
Vote' and education in electoral processes.
Cyril is currently employed by Danila Dilba, the largest
Aboriginal Medical Service in the Top End. Cyril has been invited
to sit on several national committees on Indigenous ageing and
currently sits on the National Indigenous Advisory Network for
Dementia/Alzheimer’s Australia. Cyril is currently studying
for his Masters degree in Public Health at the Institute for Koori
Education, Deakin University, Geelong (Victoria), where he hopes to
balance his years of practical remote service delivery experience
with theoretical process.
